Still Moves

Project type

Interactive Installation

Date

2024

Still Moves explores the impossibility of fully leaving, even at the moment of departure. Four wall-mounted luggage wheels turn in opposing directions. Spaced in precise proportions, they imply an absent suitcase embedded in the wall, containment without the container, a body leaving while it remains.
Across the black rows of wheels, eight verses are etched on the rims. To read them, you must come close, slow down, touch, letting the wheels resist your hand as the lines reveal themselves. The counter-rotation produces a small force against your fingers, a friction that mirrors the disorientation of leaving without ever fully arriving. The installation was created initially for the poem “Still Moves”; I later made variations to match different poems in Farsi and English.
